#252 Katie Brooke on Breaking the Rules and Owning the Stage

/ Episodes / By

Australian country music is built on grit, storytelling, and authenticity—and few artists embody that spirit quite like Katie Brooke.

This week on Unfiltered and Undiscovered, Curly, Braggy, and Rossy sit down with the powerhouse singer-songwriter to talk about her hard-hitting album Relentless, stepping away from the music industry machinery, and coming back entirely on her own terms. From tearing up stages at Tamworth’s iconic Moonshiners Honky Tonk Bar to packing out regional halls across NSW and Queensland, Katie shares what it really takes to build an uncompromising career in independent country music.

In This Episode, We Cover:

  • Ditching Stadium Polish for Honky-Tonk Soul: Why raw, intimate live shows beat stadium pop spectacles every single time.

  • The ‘Relentless’ Ethos: The turning point where Katie took the steering wheel back, rejected cookie-cutter industry rules, and found her true sound.

  • Life on the Road: Crafting the Relentless Western Show and tailoring her setlist for intimate country halls versus massive festival crowds.

    • The Aussie Outlaw Sound: Blending traditional Western storytelling with modern grit, and what sets Australian country apart.
