#258 Blended Families, Nomadic Highways & Raw Aussie Storytelling with Tom Mac

/ Episodes / By

Joining us on the couch this week is Southern Queensland troubadour Tom Mac. From losing a multi-generational sheep farming property in regional Victoria to years of roaming the open road, Tom’s life is a journey back to the heartland—not through a geographic location, but through raw, unfiltered storytelling.

Now settled in Southern Queensland, Tom brings a fresh sound to Australian music, uniquely fusing contemporary coastal country with the unmistakable resonance of the didgeridoo.

In this episode, Curly, Braggy, and Rossy sit down with Tom to talk through his artistic evolution, tracking through early releases like Aware and the open-road freedom of Nomadic, right through to his deeply moving new single, Brave.

Written before he had even met his partner’s children, Brave is a soaring country-rock anthem that captures the vulnerability, uncertainty, and triumph of stepping into a blended family. Tom breaks down what it takes to write with that level of emotional honesty, recording in a home studio during its final days, and how finding love meant accepting he’d never be number one—and learning that real love doesn’t ask to be.

Real talk, fresh sounds, and zero filter.
