#263 Hunter Valley Roots to Festival Mainstages: The Viper Creek Band Story

/ Episodes / By

This week on Unfiltered & Undiscovered, Curly, Braggy, and Rossy sit down with Damien Baguley, frontman and chief songwriter of Newcastle’s premier country-rock powerhouse, The Viper Creek Band.

Since breaking out of the Hunter Valley music scene, The Viper Creek Band has spent over a decade tearing up festival stages—from Tamworth and Gympie to CMC Rocks and Deni Ute Muster. Blending heavy, pub-rock guitar riffs with anthemic country songwriting, the boys have topped the ARIA Country Albums Chart, landed Golden Guitar nominations, and built one of the most passionate grassroots fanbases in independent Australian music.

In this episode, the team dives deep into:

  • The Regional Pub Circuit Grit: Building a national fanbase from scratch across New South Wales and regional Australia.

  • Studio vs. Stage: Capturing high-octane festival energy inside the recording studio for chart-topping albums like Just Press Play and Beautiful Destruction.

  • 10+ Years on the Road: Unfiltered tour stories, festival backstage chaos, and keeping the passion alive as an independent outfit.
